Pain in the ….
Are you always hurt ? Does it make it hard to get in a great workout?
Everyone will deal with achy joints and sore
muscles at some point. Being active helps a lot! Those who are active will have minor aches and pains from time to time. Those who are not active are guaranteed to have issues with muscles, joints, and more serious health conditions.
Below are a few tips to work through minor aches and pains……
Get Strong with joint friendly exercises! - It’s a big mistake to become obsessed with certain exercises or pieces of equipment. Your body changes over time. Your program needs to change in order to be effective. I see this all the time with barbell training. For some people, chasing numbers is fun. But usually leads to injuries.
Spend more time on flexibility and mobility!- Just about everyone needs to spend more time on flexibility and mobility. This is critical to reducing pain while working out. Some days the warm up might need to turn into the workout! Do not ignore flexibility and mobility workouts!
Avoid the beatdown workouts! - These workouts have become popular. A lot of places create a great atmosphere, but have horrible programming. We get a lot of people coming to us after getting injured at these places. Work hard and smart.
Get an assessment and professional program design - It’s worth it to get an assessment and have a professional write a program for you! The generic programs on google and youtube will only get you so far.
Have a plan for recovery! - The boring stuff usually gets
ignored! Get quality sleep, stay hydrated, and have a solid nutrition plan!
Focus on weight loss? - A lot of people notice less pain after losing weight. Less pressure on the joints and improved range of motion helps. Getting healthy will help you feel better and might help you avoid surgery and other extreme
methods to feel better.
