Back to school, football, and healthy
routines!
It’s that time of the year again! Time to watch the 49ers win, enjoy cooler weather, and get back to routine!
The summer is hard for most people! Vacations make it hard to stay consistent with your fitness routine! Below are a few tips to get back on track with your fitness routine!
Start Small and Set Realistic Goals
Go for frequency over duration. Instead of trying to do a 60-minute workout, aim for three 20-minute sessions a week. This is less intimidating and easier to fit into a busy schedule. Aim to add on a few minutes every week. Then add on days.
Focus on what you enjoy. Did
you love walking, cycling, or lifting weights? Start there. The goal is to make exercise something you look forward to, not something you dread.
Plan out your week. Instead of just saying "I'll work out," put specific times on your calendar. Treat these appointments like you would a doctor's appointment or a work meeting—make them non-negotiable.
Listen to Your
Body
One of the biggest mistakes people make when getting back into fitness is overdoing it. Pushing too hard, too soon, can lead to injury and burnout.
Start with lighter weights or lower intensity. If you used to lift 20-pound dumbbells, start with 10 or 15 pounds. Your strength will return faster than you think.
Prioritize a proper warm-up and cool-down. A few minutes of dynamic stretching before your workout and static stretching after can make a huge difference in preventing soreness and injury.
Rest is just as important as the workout itself. Make sure you're getting enough sleep and giving your muscles time to recover.
Find Your "Why" and Stay
Consistent
Think about why you want to get back into fitness. Is it for better sleep, more energy, or to manage stress? Reminding yourself of this deeper purpose can be a powerful motivator.
Don't beat yourself up if you miss a workout. One missed workout doesn't define your routine. The key is to get back on track with the next scheduled session.
Hire a personal trainer and find an accountability partner. Working out with a friend or family member can make the process more fun and keep you motivated on days when you don't feel like it. Hiring a personal trainer will make things much easier! Just show up, work hard, and listen to your trainer!
