Too much, too soon -
Too many people go from doing nothing to working out 8 days per week. This is guaranteed to cause an injury.
You are not speeding up progress if you go from 0 to 100 overnight. You will end up getting injured and not being able to workout for weeks or months.
Set realistic goals based on what you are currently doing. Take baby steps. Build some confidence, prepare your body, and gradually increase the duration and intensity.
Bad Technique -
This one is obvious. If you are doing the exercises wrong you will get nothing out of them. You will end up getting hurt. Hiring a personal trainer for a few sessions to design a program and teach you proper technique is worth it.
Competing with others-
Making exercise a competition is usually a bad idea. I see so many people comparing themselves to the person next to them. These individuals usually end up getting hurt.
Overuse injuries-
This is common with repetitive movements. For example, if all you do is run your muscles and joints will take a pounding. Like a car, you only have so many miles. Some people are built for things like running. Others are not. A well rounded program will allow you to get the most out of all activities.
Bad program design/No individualization or modifications -
Lack of a plan and choosing the wrong exercises will cause injury. The best exercise for one person can be the worst exercise for the next. Have a personal trainer assess you to find the
best exercises for your body.
