☑️Too much info! How to start a fitness routine?
Q- “There is so much
information out there and I am not sure where to start. Can you give me advice on a simple routine I can do? Even if I don’t have access to a gym?”
A- It’s not as complicated as the fake coaches and marketers want you to believe. Most people trying to sell a product want you to think they discovered something special so they can charge you an arm and a leg.
If you are doing nothing at all, just move more! The best way to start is to have a walking routine. The most important thing is to develop habits. Make sure you develop routines and block out the time on your calendar. After you have started to develop some form of routine of
showing up, then start to add a little at a time.
The biggest return on your time will come from
strength training. You must do this! It does not take a lot to get the health benefits. If you are doing nothing at all, then set a goal to get in 2-3 days per week for 20 to 45 minutes. We like to start people off with 5-8 multi-joint exercises that work the entire body 2-3 times per week. Master body weight before moving on to more complicated lifts.
In order to have a well rounded routine you must get in your cardio, flexibility, and mobility. This does not have to be complicated or time consuming.
Choose a form of low impact cardio that you will enjoy doing. With our group sessions we have low impact cardio variations. We also program in lots of circuits and supersets
so you get a cardiovascular benefit from your strength training. This saves a lot of time.
Effective
Flexibility and mobility routines can be done in under 15 minutes. The key is consistency. Find 1-2 mobility exercises per joint and 1-2 flexibility exercises per muscle. Perfect your technique and don't race through the exercises.
