Q. What are the biggest mistakes you see people make with balance training?
A. There are a lot of mistakes , but one of the biggest is not having a complete program devoted to balance. Just performing circus tricks and buying a ton of “balance” gadgets is not going to work out very well. You need to address mobility, flexibility, functional strength, and endurance (muscular and cardio) to improve
balance.
A lot of programs are the equivalent of just testing balance every day, without doing anything to improve balance. A lot of people are trying to make money off of you by selling a ton of fancy equipment you don’t need. They know that the average person just knows what they feel, and what they associate with “balance
training.”

Mobility or flexibility ?
I see a lot of people confuse mobility and flexibility.
Mobility is the ability
of a joint to move freely through a full range of motion without pain or discomfort. Flexibility is the ability of a muscle or muscle groups to lengthen passively through a range of motion.
Working on flexibility is very important, but you must not forget mobility training. It’s why we always include mobility exercises in our
dynamic warm-up and then do joint circles to improve mobility.
A lot of people don’t realize that strength training through a full range of motion also improves mobility. Of course mobility training will allow you to perform more exercises safely.
You need enough flexibility to get through all of your major movements without pain. Even though it’s rare for the people I work with, too much flexibility can cause a lot of issues.
The good news is you don’t need to worry about spending hours and hours of time. You just need to learn a few stretches and mobility exercises, then be consistent with them. If you are interested in getting an free consultation/assessment to learn more reply this email or text me at 757 589 7028.
Semi -private?

Q. How is semi- private different from group and personal?
A. Semi- private gives you the best of both worlds. If you like the group, but prefer even more individualized attention, then semi private might be for you. If you like personal, but would like to save a few bucks and get the benefits of a group, then semi- private might be for you.
With our regular groups we start off with a no charge consultation, then make sure we find the modifications that work for you. With semi- private, we write a program designed specifically for you. And yes, we can do this in a group setting. We make sure we keep it between 2-5 people for semi-private.
At the consultation we get information about your goals, fitness level, injuries, schedule,and we match you up with the right group. Or you can create your own group with family and friends.
If you have any hesitations we can create a transition plan for you. We will start you off with a few personal training sessions then decide the best group for you. We have some people that do a combination of all 3 services. We have lots of pay by session and no contract options available.
